JunkMale is Wichita’s newest, most fun acoustic duo. Matt Cantrell and Bruce Despommier bring you THE best rock songs, sing-alongs, and just plain killer tunes all night! From family friendly shows, to full-on uncensored party rock, these two go musically postal night after night.
Hailing from the grunge capital of Kansas, Matt has been singing since he was a toddler, following along with his sibling’s 45’s. At age 12 he started on guitar and switched to bass 10 years ago. He was an integral member of prestigious regional groups such as SquirrelCage, Denizen Dogs, Joe Durt, and currently plays with Bruce in Big Fat Fun. He plays a mean kazoo.
A transplanted New Yorker, Bruce came from a very musical family, primarily influenced by his grandfather, a professional drummer. He started on guitar at 9 and can play just about every song known to mankind. Having been in some of the biggest bands in the Wichita club rotation such as Balance, SecondNature, GeTBaD, and 10 Day Wish, he currently plays with Matt in Big Fat Fun.
